The Group's UK businesses, Clydesdale Bank and Yorkshire Bank, offer a broad range of financial services including retail, business and corporate banking.

Clydesdale Bank was established in 1838 in Glasgow and has a proud history of innovation and support for Scottish industry and communities. Clydesdale Bank joined the Group in 1987.

Yorkshire Bank was founded in 1859 in Halifax, West Yorkshire and joined the Group in 1990. It has a strong personal customer base and a growing business capability in the north of England and the Midlands

The UK operation has a mission to become 'the UK's fastest growing bank' and the latest half year results demonstrate they are on track with this objective.

Underpinning this growth has been the success of the integrated financial solutions, or iFS, concept, through which various banking solutions are connected together within one location targeting small to medium sized businesses and private customers.

Since 2004, around 40 new iFS outlets have been opened across southern England and a similar number converted from traditional bank branches across Scotland and northern England, employing some 2,000 people. The iFS teams are fully integrated with their local professional communities and each outlet has a local chairperson to maximize business opportunities. This successful formula is being exported to our group operations in Australia and New Zealand.
