National to Appoint New Director - 30 June 2003
Mr John Thorn has been invited to join the National Australia Bank Limited Board as an independent non-executive Director following his retirement from PricewaterhouseCoopers.
Mr Thorn has accepted the invitation and will join the Board in October 2003.
Until recently, Mr Thorn, 55, was the National Managing Partner of PricewaterhouseCoopers in Australia.
Mr Thorn's career with PwC spans some 37 years, over 20 years as a Partner. His experience includes audit and accounting practice and standards, client audit committees, corporate governance, business advisory, mergers & acquisitions, and risk management.
Mr Thorn has served on a number of PwC international management committees including the Global Audit Management Committee.
Mr Thorn is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, Australia, and member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Announcing the appointment, National Australia Bank Chairman, Mr Charles Allen said: "Mr Thorn's skills and experience ideally complement those of the other members of the Board. His financial expertise, international experience and the skills he has developed in managing and growing a major professional services firm will be most valuable to the National."
