Peter Duncan to Join National - 2 November 2001
Peter Duncan, who recently retired from the Royal Dutch Shell group of companies, has been appointed to the board of National Australia Bank.
Mr Duncan's career in Shell was largely in finance and marketing in a variety of countries. He was Finance Director for Shell Australia from 1989 to 1992 and served as Chief Executive Officer of Deutsche Shell in Hamburg for five years.
He returned to Australia in 1997 and was subsequently appointed Chairman of the Shell Group of Companies in Australia.
"I have known Peter Duncan since he was appointed to the Board of Woodside in 1989 where he made an outstanding contribution," said National Australia Bank Chairman, Mr Charles Allen.
"Peter's extensive international experience, particularly in finance, will ensure he makes a valuable contribution to the National," Mr Allen said.
Born in Buckinghamshire England, he moved to New Zealand as a child where he qualified as a Chemical Engineer from Canterbury University NZ and subsequently completed a post-graduate Diploma in Business Studies from the London School of Economics.
