Media Release - NAB Launches Corporate Social Responsibility Report 2005 - 12 December 2005

National Australia Bank today released its second stand alone Corporate Social Responsibility Report.

National Australia Bank Managing Director and Group Chief Executive John Stewart said:  "The CSR report highlights our progress in making the National sustainable over the long-term.

"It also demonstrates we are truly living our principles.  The report is open and honest about our performance.  It shows we hold ourselves accountable to deliver on what we have promised," he said

"I am pleased to report the National has been included in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index for the third year running and has addressed many of the issues from previous years.

"Last week we were confirmed as a AA rated organisation by RepuTex and among the top 12 companies in Australia.

"We can still improve in this area, but given the challenges of the last year and a half I think this a great outcome," he said.

The report shows the National has provided staff with more than 6000 days of volunteer leave globally to work in a wide range of community projects.

Charitable donations totalled $17.7 million for the year.

The report has been printed using recycled paper and environmentally friendly ink.

Through an association with eTree, shareholders are encouraged to switch to an electronic version of the Annual Financial Report, Concise Annual Report and Corporate Social Responsibility Report.
