ASX Announcement - NAB Releases 2006 Corporate Social Responsibility Report
National Australia Bank today released its third Corporate Social Responsibility Report.
National Australia Bank Group Chief Executive Officer John Stewart said: "Our CSR Report reinforces our commitment to ethical behaviour at all levels and acknowledges the efforts we make to be recognised in the community as good corporate citizens."
"We appreciate the importance of taking a long-term view of Corporate Social Responsibility. We are building a credible CSR framework and philosophy that is aligned to our businesses, the communities in which we work and live and the impact we make on the environment."

All key businesses within the NAB Group are featured in the Report including our operations in Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom, as well as nabCapital.
Achievements during 2006 include:
- Corporate community investment totalled $20.5 million for the year
- NAB staff provided more than 7,500 days of volunteer leave globally to work in a wide range of community projects
- Announced $30 million funding commitment to micro-finance in Australia and expanded access to Step Up Loan in Australia in partnership with community organisations
- Purchased 100% Climate Levy Exempt power in the UK
- Completed first stage of research on climate risks and opportunities to corporate banking
- Maintained AA rating in the RepuTex Social Responsibility Rating
- Continued to be listed in the Dow Jones Sustainability and FTSE4Good indices
- Held second global union conference, and signed new collective agreements in key regions in which we operate
- Received 'Two Tick' disability user status in the UK for our commitment to employees with a disability.
The Report's contents have been independently audited by specialist auditors URS Australia Pty Ltd and the numeric data included in the Economic Performance Summary has been audited by Ernst & Young.
The Report has been printed using recycled paper and environmentally friendly ink and is available in an interactive format .
